General Questions
1. What top-level domains (TLDs) does the i-Nav plug-in support?
i-Nav supports all gTLDs and all ccTLDs as specified by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) that adhere to the IDNA standard.
2. How do I type in my language and other languages if the computer I am using does not have support?
On non-multilingual systems, you will need an input method editor (IME). Microsoft provides input methods for all languages. You can add new input methods by going to your Control Panels and selecting Keyboard (Windows 98/ME) or Regional Options (Windows NT, 2000, XP). If you are using a Multilingual operating system, an input method for that language is provided as default.
3. How is the i-Nav plug-in updated with new features?
The i-Nav plug-in has an auto-update feature that will check for any newer version every 24 hours. Should there be a newer version, the software will be automatically updated without you having to worry about it. Note that users with personal firewalls may see a request being made from "naviclient.exe" or just "NAVIClient". This is i-Nav's auto-update program and in order to insure that the software gets updated you need to allow this request to pass through.
4. I would like to install i-Nav on multiple machines across a corporate network. What options are available?
Currently, you can use our Standalone Installer to install in a corporate environment. The application can be run in "silent mode" by using the switch "/s". This will allow you to install quickly on multiple machines without interfering with your user's directly.
5. I still have a problem, how do I contact support?

i-Nav: Internet Explorer Plug-In
1. How do I use the i-Nav plug-in?
Using the i-Nav plug-in is extremely easy. Simply open Internet Explorer, type the Multilingual web address you would like to visit in the address bar and hit Enter. i-Nav will take you there. You can add sites to your Favorites, click on in-page links, and even view addresses in your History.
2. What versions of Internet Explorer does i-Nav support?
The i-Nav plug-in is compatible with Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and runs in Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. Due to the limitations of English versions of Windows 98, ME and NT, it is not possible to enter multilingual text into the address bar and therefore you cannot use i-Nav on those operating systems. To enable multilingual usage for English versions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP, please go to Control Panels/Regional Options and then select the languages you wish to use.
3. Why am I getting an error when trying to navigate to a multilingual site?
There may be a number of reasons why the name you are trying to visit cannot be reached.
- The server associated with that domain name may currently be offline
- The domain name itself may be registered correctly but has not been setup appropriately by the Internet Service Provider where the server is located.
- The domain name is currently not registered.
- The i-Nav plug-in may not be correctly installed. To verify this, please look in the Internet Explorer/Tools menu for i-Nav Options. If there is no option then i-Nav has not been properly installed.
4. How do I enable or disable the auto-complete menu?
i-Nav's auto-complete window is designed to make it easier to enter multilingual URLs by eliminating the need to switch from to English when entering domains.. Typing a "." (full-stop character) in Internet Explorer's address bar automatically displays i-Nav's TLD auto-complete window:
The TLD auto-complete window presents a list of 3 possible TLDs to select from. This list is based on URL's you the user commonly visit. To select the default (highlighted) TLD in the list press the enter key - the auto-complete window will append the TLD to the URL in the address bar and navigate to the address. Selecting a TLD in the list other than the default is accomplished through the use the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard. A TLD may also be selected using the mouse. Additional TLD's will automatically be added to the auto-complete list as you enter them manually.
The TLD auto-complete window can be disabled through the i-Nav Option panel that is available under Internet Explorer's Tools menu. Immediate navigation after a TLD is selected may also be enabled or disable.
5. What is Web email support?
The i-Nav plug-in provides a feature, which allows you to send and receive emails from your web-based email account to users who have Multilingual email addresses.
6. Which Web e-mail providers' does i-Nav support?
Currently, i-Nav supports many web based e-mail providers and support is being added all the time through i-Nav's auto-update mechanism. Those currently supported include:
- Yahoo (.com, .jp, .cn. .kr)
- Hotmail
- Netease (163.com)
- Daum
7. How do I enable or disable support for multilingual domain names in Web e-mail?
To enable or disable the Web e-mail functionality, simply select the Internet Explorer Tools menu and click on i-Nav Options. On the preferences window, just uncheck the box next to the option for Web email.
8. When I try and navigate to a multilingual site it always prompts me to download the plug-in even though I already have it installed?
This can happen if your Internet Explorer options are not correctly configured. To correct this:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Select the Tools menu and then select Internet Options
- Select the tab labeled Advanced Options
- Find the option named "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)"
- Check this option and click OK
- Restart Internet Explorer
i-NavOutlook: Microsoft Outlook
1. How do I use the i-NavOutlook plug-in?
The i-NavOutlook plug-in is extremely simple to use once your account has been set up with a Multilingual domain name. With this plug-installed all the standard functions of Outlook are available to you; such as creating new accounts, sending messages, or even creating new Windows Address Book entries. You can now use an email address that contains Multilingual characters in the domain name. Note that the user name must remain in ASCII as all the plug-in is converting is the domain name as shown in the example below.
2. How do I set up my account?
You should set up the account as you would for any new account through the account wizard. Your ISP or local system administrator will advise you of your username and domain name (which could either be in the form of username@Multilingual.TLD or in the form of username@xn--.TLD) which you would use to set up your new account.
3. What versions of Microsoft Outlook does i-NavOutlook support?

4. When I try and send a message my e-mail comes back as Undeliverable.
You need to verify that the email address that you are sending to contains a valid multilingual domain name. To check this you should contact the person you are trying to send mail and verify their email address. If everything appears correct then contact your email provider to confirm proper configuration.
5. How do I enter email addresses where the domain is in a language other then my own? (Outlook 2000)
If you wish to type in a language that is not supported by your computer's operating system you need to click on this icon which has been installed on your Outlook toolbar. If you are on an English or Western European system with an IME you should click this button if you wish to type an e-mail address where the domain name does not contain those characters. For all other systems you should only click on this button if you wish to type in another language other then your own or English.
6. Using Word as default editor in Outlook XP/Outlook 2003.
The current implementation of i-NavOutlook does not support sending email when Word is set as the default editor. If you have this option enabled, to use i-NavOutlook you must change this to normal text editing by going to: Tools-->Options-->Mail Format-->Message Format and un-ticking the check box which says "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages".
